Beware of Corporate Genealogy Thieves

Beware of Genealogical Corporation's that will still your family tree and cash in , on it. To name a few Kindred Konnections and My Trees! they stole my family tree. Luckily I was able to remove all but about 200 people first. So be careful where you submit your family tree. I use Tribalpages because it's free and all your information and research remains your own. There are other ways to display your tree online. Like signing up for a free webpage and doing it yourself. I used to use Gencircles until they were bought out by My family. I am still a member of a page there, but be careful what you upload, it may end up being theirs, after they copyright it. A friend of mine had his family tree on Rootsweb, which used to be a wonderful site, then it got bought out by Ancestry. He had a horrible time getting his info off Ancestry, as it was copied there, after the buy out. I still like Ancestry, if you have the money, but your info should remain your info. My friend calls them the "Cash Cow". Way too many sites that I can count have started this. They say , Submit your family tree, and then you do, and the next thing you know, they are publishing a book with your stuff in it. You worked hard on your tree, Don't let anyone steel it!!
